Welcome

Footsteps Walking With You provide face to face counselling for young people aged 8 – 25 and their families.  We understand that life can be difficult sometimes.  You may feel sad or anxious, you might hate yourself or be angry with other people, you may feel alone or confused.  We are here to listen, to support you and not to judge you.

In More Detail....

Footsteps wwy is a new charity that has been set up to provide affordable counselling for young people in Suffolk. It has developed out of a growing awareness of the needs of young people to have someone to talk to and in response to the lack of provision of professional counselling for this age group.

Our counsellors are all professional, qualified counsellors, working under supervision.  We abide by the code of ethics of ACC and are registered with the PSA.   We also have level 4 counselling students on placement working with us.

Our Team

Christine Pinder

Diploma Counselling

I have been counselling for more than 35 years.  I love working with young people and I believe that when they are given the opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential space, they can grow in often remarkable ways.  Some young people have clear ideas about the issues they would like to explore in counselling, whilst others come with a jumble of thoughts that are hard to put into words.  A supportive counselling relationship helps them to look at what is happening, whether through talking or through creative activities.  I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including anxiety and depression, trauma, abuse and self esteem.

Jo Ashton

Diploma and Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy, and Qualified Supervisor

I enjoy helping young people and their families and have lots of experience working with trauma, abuse, anxiety, chronic pain, self-harm and low self-esteem among other things. I am an integrative counsellor, using many different modalities and ways of working to deliver therapy suited to each individual. I often incorporate creative approaches—when appropriate for the client—using resources such as Russian dolls, sand trays, puppets, games, drawings, and stress toys. I am also trained in play-led therapy and working systemically (with families). I am passionate about helping to equip children, young people and their families with the tools they need not only for now, but for later in life too.

Diploma Counselling

I have around 10 years experience of working with young people and students. Initially as a mentor on a voluntary basis at the local school and more recently as a counsellor with young people and adults.

I believe everyone is special and unique and I will listen and support clients with whatever problems or issues they may have. I also have a further education qualification in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health.

Diploma and BA Hons Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I offer a safe, supportive space for children and young people to bring whatever is troubling them.

I understand how children can feel stuck and unable to make sense of how they are feeling, often relationships at school or home and challenges within themselves. My hope is that through our sessions, they will feel supported emotionally and find a way forward that works for them. I believe it is important for young people to have time to explore their feelings and that they feel heard and understood. My approach is gentle, allowing them to express their challenges in whatever way that meets their needs. This is often communicated to me through creative materials and other age-related resources that supports insight, resilience and personal growth.
